ORBIT is Registered under Trust Act and established at Bhalki in 1993 and transferred to Humnabad in 2003, ORBIT is one of the district organizations of the diocese of Gulbarga in Karnataka. Its developmental activities are limited to 600 villages of Bidar district of North Karnataka.

Our objectives are: Increase the number of CBRs (Community Based Organizations) to become partners of change, reduce the number of marginalized and economically backward families in the program area of ORBIT, promote right based approach for the development of children, women and the differently able, revive traditional and sustainable agricultural practices to enhance the quality of natural resources in the area. Towards achieving these objectives, we have:

WOMEN EMPOWERMENT Program:  Empowering women towards social, political and economic independence.  We help form Self Help Groups (SHGs), Cluster Federations, Taluk Federations and district Federation. Our members have started savings and credit activities of their own and gained knowledge on the importance of emphasizing their rights at homes and communities. Over 5,243 beneficiaries have been supported in the last one year.

CHILDLINE Program:  Sustainable approaches and strategies towards  making children to enjoy  their rights. Through this program ORBIT works to prevent child marriages, rescue Child labors, shelter orphans, rescue beggars and conduct Open Houses (meeting with taluka level govt. officials, villagers, and children regarding children’s problems) in villages. We reached 463 beneficiaries in the last 8 years.

LEPROSY ERADICATION Program: Towards promoting Inclusive society that upholds the dignity and rights of Leprosy affected persons. Leprosy patients were treated with reconstructive surgeries, awareness trainings, vocational trainings and IGP activities. Over 2,306 beneficiaries were supported.

COMMUNITY BASED REHABILITATION (CBR) Program: Towards promoting Inclusive society that upholds the dignity and rights of Disabled, Mentally Ill, HIV affected. Program helped form Organizations for Differently able People (DPOs), give them corrective surgeries, and skill trainings for income generation. We have reached 1,930 beneficiaries. Over 30000 aids and implements distributed since 2010.

ORBIT Appreciated by these Awards : Karnataka Rajyotsava Award, Karnataka Vibhushana state Award, Vishala Karnataka Bhushana state Award, Samaaja Ratna state Award, Suvarna Karnataka state Award, Rashtra Bhushana state Award.

The current operating annual budget of ORBIT is Rs 50 Lakhs with 18 staff over the period we had a privilege to partner with AIFO INDIA Bangalore, KROOS Bangalore, and MISEREOR from Spain and also Govt, of Karnataka, Govt, of India.

ORBIT is governed by 7 board members and compliant with 80G, 12A, FCRA, Darpan, PAN, TAN certifications.
